In 2014, a local state of emergency was declared as the mine near Likely, British Columbia, spilled 25 billion liters of toxic wastewater into waterways creating Canada’s largest disaster in history. Ten years later, no charges or fines have been laid and concerns are growing about the potential downstream consequences of British Columbia’s laxed mining regulations to American waterways.
